The last store we visited in 2020 before the lock down began was the art supplies store.
“Mom, let’s buy brushes and acrylic paints so I’ll have something to do during isolation.”
While some stocked up on food, we stocked up for a new hobby.
With only video tutorials, drawing and painting books bought online or from bookstores, and without a teacher or any painter adults around, these are the finished and framed paintings Andi created in less than two years of painting. Here’s to many more years ahead!

The first painting: a summer landscape from the grandparents’ village.

For us, every painting carries the memory of the place we visited, the emotion of the moment captured, and the unique imprint of our child.
According to Andi, anyone can achieve what they set their mind to, as long as they are disciplined and persistent. Of course, we are fortunate to have such an example in our family through Andi.
These are the books that have made their way into our library over the past year and have helped and inspired him in his new passion.

Besides books, there were also a few YouTube channels he followed and learned from.
He says a significant progress was made during the summer vacation of 2021 when he set himself the challenge of “One painting a day for a week.” The results are here.
In conclusion, it takes practice, perseverence, research from books or online, and plenty of discipline.
